Engage beginning readers with these snowman consonant blend words cards to practice blending and segmenting individual sounds. These cards include 156 words with consonant blends, providing practice with critical phonemic awareness skills. Students use a snowman moving piece to practice sounds slowly at first and then faster to blend them into words. These work great with any reading program and Orton-Gillingham based methods. They are perfect for literacy centers, individual tutoring, and special education groups. Additional ideas for segmenting, word building and sorting are included. This set includes 93 beginning consonant blend words, 44 ending consonant blend words, and 20 nonsense words. Words include three letter blends, words with both beginning and ending blends, and words with digraphs. A list of words is provided to help differentiate and assess progress. Also included are 17 strips to use as anchor charts for concepts students should know to decode the words in this set. Concepts include: consonants and vowels, short vowel sounds, digraphs, blends, and the ff,ss,ll,zz spelling rule. These strips can be displayed in a literacy center, on the wall, in a pocket chart, or in a notebook.
